Day 01
Arrival in Entebbe
Arrive at Entebbe International Airport and meet your safari representative. Transfer to your hotel and spend the remainder of the day relaxing. The first day allows time to recover from your international flight before beginning the road journey.
Depending on arrival time, optional activities around Entebbe can be arranged. Your guide will provide a detailed briefing about the safari ahead.

Day 02
Entebbe to Western Uganda
After breakfast, meet your driver-guide and begin traveling west. Pass through Uganda’s agricultural countryside, towns and rural communities. Depending on the selected route, stop at the Equator for photographs and refreshments.
Continue toward your overnight destination. The twelve-day format means you do not need to rush directly to a distant national park on the first travel day. Lunch is arranged along the route.
Arrive at your lodge in the afternoon.

Day 03
Continue to a Wildlife National Park
After breakfast, continue toward one of Uganda’s major savannah national parks. The scenery changes as you approach the Albertine Rift and wildlife conservation areas. Enter the park and begin your first game drive.
Look for elephants, Cape buffaloes, antelopes, warthogs and other animals. Lions may be encountered in suitable habitats, while leopards remain more elusive. Your guide can also point out interesting birds and explain the park’s ecosystem.
Proceed to your lodge for dinner.

Day 04
Full-Day Wildlife Viewing
Wake early for a morning game drive. The hours around sunrise are often productive because many animals are active before temperatures increase. Explore different tracks in search of wildlife.
A longer stay provides more opportunities to observe behavior rather than simply moving quickly between sightings. Return to your lodge for breakfast or lunch. Depending on the destination, the afternoon can include another game drive or a boat safari.
Water-based wildlife viewing can produce sightings of hippos, crocodiles and animals approaching the shoreline. Return to your lodge in the evening.

Day 05
Additional Wildlife Experience
Today gives you a second full day in the wildlife region. A repeated game drive can be especially valuable because wildlife movement changes every day. Your guide may explore new habitats or return to areas where predators have recently been observed.
Photographers can spend longer at good sightings without feeling pressured by a tight schedule. Depending on your interests, the afternoon can remain free for lodge relaxation or include another optional activity.

Day 06
Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park
After breakfast, continue toward Queen Elizabeth National Park if it is not already the main wildlife destination in your route. Queen Elizabeth is one of Uganda’s most diverse national parks, containing lakes, wetlands, savannah, woodland and crater landscapes. After arrival, enjoy an introductory game drive.
Search for Uganda kobs, elephants, buffaloes and warthogs. The park also contains lions, leopards and spotted hyenas. Arrive at your lodge in time for dinner.

Day 07
Queen Elizabeth Game Drive and Kazinga Channel Boat Safari
Wake early and depart for a morning wildlife drive. Search the savannah for elephants, buffaloes and antelopes. Predators are often among the most sought-after sightings, although their movements are unpredictable.
Return for breakfast or lunch. Later, transfer to the Kazinga Channel. The boat cruise is one of Uganda’s best-known wildlife activities.
Large groups of hippos can often be seen in the water. Nile crocodiles may rest on the banks, while elephants and buffaloes sometimes approach the channel to drink. The cruise is also excellent for bird photography.
Return to your lodge after the activity.

Day 08
Queen Elizabeth to Bwindi via Ishasha
After breakfast, begin the journey south toward Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Depending on your gorilla permit sector, travel through the Ishasha region. Ishasha is famous for tree-climbing lions, which can occasionally be seen resting in large fig trees.
There are no guaranteed sightings, but the area also supports topis, buffaloes, elephants and Uganda kobs. Continue into the southwestern highlands. The landscape becomes increasingly mountainous as cultivated hills meet dense natural forest.
Arrive at your lodge near the appropriate Bwindi trekking sector.

Day 09
Mountain Gorilla Trekking
Today is the highlight of your 12 Day Uganda Wildlife & Gorillas Safari. Wake early and enjoy breakfast before transferring to the designated Uganda Wildlife Authority briefing point. Rangers explain the rules governing gorilla trekking, including safety and conservation requirements.
You will then be assigned to a habituated gorilla family. Enter the rainforest with trackers and ranger guides. Bwindi can be physically challenging, with steep slopes, thick vegetation and muddy trails.
The gorillas move freely, so trekking duration can vary considerably. Hiring a porter is highly recommended.

Bwindi Nature or Community Experience

Begin Scenic Return Journey
After breakfast, check out and begin traveling toward central Uganda. The long return journey is divided into manageable sections. Enjoy views of southwestern Uganda’s terraced hills and rural landscapes.
Lunch and refreshment stops will be made along the route. Arrive at your overnight destination in the afternoon or evening.

Return to Entebbe – Departure
After breakfast, complete the final transfer toward Entebbe. Where time permits, stop at the Equator for photographs and souvenir shopping. Continue to Entebbe International Airport for your international departure.

Eventually, the trackers will determine that the gorillas are nearby. Follow your ranger quietly toward the family. Under standard gorilla trekking regulations, visitors are normally permitted to spend up to one hour in their presence.
During this memorable period, watch the gorillas continue their normal routines. A silverback may sit nearby while females feed and juveniles climb or play around the family. Infants may remain close to their mothers or cautiously explore.
The encounter can feel completely different from the wildlife experiences earlier in the safari because you are on foot inside dense rainforest rather than observing animals from a vehicle. After your viewing period, trek back to the starting point. Meet your driver and return to the lodge.
