Day 02
Entebbe or Kampala to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
After breakfast, begin the journey toward southwestern Uganda and Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.
The drive is one of the best opportunities to appreciate Uganda beyond its national parks. You travel through towns, farming communities, rolling hills and increasingly mountainous landscapes as you approach the country's southwest.
A popular stop is around the Equator, where you can take photographs and browse locally made crafts. Lunch is taken along the route. Continue through the countryside toward Bwindi. The final section of the journey offers beautiful views of hills, valleys, forests and traditional farms.
Arrive at your lodge in the late afternoon or evening. After checking in, enjoy dinner and prepare your equipment for the following morning's gorilla trek.

Day 03
Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Today is the defining experience of your 5 Day Uganda Gorilla Trekking Safari.
After an early breakfast, transfer to the relevant park headquarters for registration and a briefing conducted by Uganda Wildlife Authority personnel. During the briefing, you will learn about gorilla trekking procedures, forest safety and appropriate behavior around the gorillas.
Trekkers are then divided into groups and assigned to habituated gorilla families.
Accompanied by experienced ranger guides and trackers, enter Bwindi's rainforest. Trekking duration varies because gorillas move freely through their natural habitat. Depending on their location, reaching the assigned family may take anything from a relatively short walk to several hours.
The forest itself forms an important part of the experience. Bwindi supports an extraordinary variety of trees, birds, butterflies, primates and other wildlife. Once the gorillas are located, trekkers are normally permitted to spend one unforgettable hour observing the habituated family.
You may see a dominant silverback resting nearby, juveniles climbing vegetation, mothers carrying infants or members of the family feeding and interacting. Photography is permitted, although flash photography is prohibited.
After the encounter, trek back through the forest and meet your driver-guide. Return to the lodge for relaxation. Depending on the duration of your trek and your energy level, an optional community experience may be arranged later in the day.

Day 04
Relaxed Morning in Bwindi and Scenic Transfer
Following the excitement of gorilla trekking, enjoy a more relaxed morning in the Bwindi region. Depending on the final routing, you may spend additional time appreciating the forest environment or participate in an optional community or nature activity before beginning the journey toward your overnight stop.
This additional day is one of the advantages of choosing a five-day itinerary. It avoids having to immediately undertake a very long return journey directly after gorilla trekking. The southwestern highlands provide spectacular scenery, particularly where cultivated hillsides meet natural forest.
Arrive at your selected accommodation later in the day for dinner and an overnight stay. Meal Plan: Breakfast, lunch and dinner

Upon reaching Entebbe, transfer to Entebbe International Airport for your onward flight or to your independently arranged hotel. This concludes your 5 Day Uganda Gorilla Trekking Safari.

Gorilla Trekking Permit
A valid gorilla trekking permit is required for every visitor participating in a standard gorilla trek. Permits are issued for a particular trekking date and sector and availability is limited.
For this reason, we recommend confirming your safari early, particularly if you intend to travel during popular periods such as June through September or around the Christmas and New Year holidays.
Your itinerary should be planned around confirmed permit availability rather than booking accommodation first and looking for permits afterward.
What to Pack for Gorilla Trekking
Bring lightweight but durable clothing suitable for forest conditions. Long trousers, long-sleeved shirts and reliable hiking shoes or boots are strongly recommended.
A waterproof jacket is useful because rainfall can occur throughout the year. Gardening-style gloves can protect your hands when holding vegetation on steeper sections of the trail. Other useful items include insect repellent, sunscreen, a hat, reusable water bottle, small daypack and camera.
Porters are normally available at the trekking starting points. Hiring a porter is worthwhile because they can carry your backpack and assist on difficult sections while providing direct income to surrounding communities.
Best Time for a 5 Day Uganda Gorilla Trekking Safari
Gorilla trekking is possible throughout the year. June to September and December to February generally coincide with comparatively drier conditions and are therefore popular periods. However, Bwindi is a tropical rainforest and rain can occur at any time.
The wetter months can provide beautiful green scenery and may attract fewer visitors. The most suitable period therefore depends on your overall travel plans, budget and preferences.
