Safari Overview
A 10 Day Best of Uganda Gorilla & Wildlife Safari combines the country’s renowned mountain gorillas with classic African wildlife viewing, spectacular landscapes and some of western Uganda’s most rewarding safari experiences. It is an excellent choice for travelers who want a broad introduction to Uganda while still keeping the journey within a manageable ten-day period.
A typical itinerary links wildlife-rich savannah destinations with Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Queen Elizabeth National Park is often a central part of the route, offering game drives, the Kazinga Channel boat safari and opportunities to search for elephants, buffaloes, lions and other wildlife. Bwindi then provides the safari’s defining primate experience: trekking through rainforest to spend time with a habituated mountain gorilla family.
With ten days available, the itinerary can include more than one wildlife destination, scenic transfers and time around the gorilla region without becoming unnecessarily rushed.

Day 04
Morning Game Drive and Kazinga Channel Boat Safari
Wake early for a morning game drive. The cooler hours around sunrise often provide excellent wildlife-viewing opportunities. Your guide will choose tracks based on local conditions and recent animal movements.
Search for elephants feeding in bushland, buffaloes moving across the plains and Uganda kobs gathering in open areas. Lions may occasionally be seen near concentrations of antelopes. Leopards and spotted hyenas are also present but can be difficult to locate.
Return to the lodge for breakfast or lunch. In the afternoon, proceed to the Kazinga Channel. The channel connects Lakes George and Edward and is renowned for concentrations of aquatic wildlife.
Large numbers of hippos are commonly seen, while Nile crocodiles may be observed along the shoreline. Elephants and buffaloes sometimes come to drink. The boat safari is also exceptionally rewarding for birdwatchers.
Return to your lodge after the cruise.

Day 05
Additional Queen Elizabeth Wildlife Experience
Today allows you to explore more of Queen Elizabeth National Park rather than leaving after only one game drive. Begin with another wildlife-viewing drive through a different area. A second drive improves your chances of seeing animals missed on the previous day and provides more time for photography.
Depending on the final itinerary, additional activities may also be arranged. Spend time enjoying the park’s landscapes, crater areas or lodge surroundings.
A slower wildlife day is particularly rewarding for photographers and travelers who prefer observing animal behavior rather than simply checking species off a list.

Day 06
Queen Elizabeth to Bwindi via Ishasha
After breakfast, begin your journey toward Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Depending on your confirmed trekking sector, the route can pass through the Ishasha region. Ishasha is famous for its tree-climbing lions.
Although sightings are not guaranteed, lions are sometimes seen resting on branches of large fig trees. The area also supports topis, buffaloes, elephants and Uganda kobs. Continue toward Bwindi.
The landscape gradually changes from open savannah to increasingly mountainous terrain. Cultivated hills and forest-covered ridges dominate the approach to the national park. Check into your lodge near the correct gorilla trekking sector.

Day 07
Mountain Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi
Today is the highlight of your 10 Day Best of Uganda Gorilla & Wildlife Safari. Wake early, enjoy breakfast and transfer to the relevant Uganda Wildlife Authority briefing point. Rangers explain trekking regulations, safety and responsible behavior around mountain gorillas.
Participants are divided into groups and assigned to habituated families. Enter the forest with trackers and ranger guides. Bwindi is mountainous, and the trek may involve steep, muddy or uneven terrain.
The gorillas move freely, so the amount of walking required varies considerably. Hiring a porter is highly recommended. When trackers locate the family, approach quietly under your ranger’s guidance.
Standard trekking generally allows visitors up to one hour with the habituated gorillas. This experience can be profoundly memorable. You may watch an enormous silverback resting close to the family, adult females feeding and juveniles climbing, chasing one another or playing among the vegetation.
Infants often remain near their mothers but may become increasingly curious. Observe quietly, follow ranger instructions and avoid flash photography. After your allotted viewing time, trek back to the starting point.
Return to the lodge for rest.

A community experience can provide a broader understanding of the people living around the gorilla forest and the way tourism contributes to local livelihoods.
Nature enthusiasts may prefer a forest-focused excursion. Bwindi supports extraordinary bird, butterfly and plant diversity in addition to its mountain gorillas. Alternatively, spend the day at the lodge enjoying the highland scenery.
